I have been living in my townhouse for a while now. About 2 years ago, the HOA decided to hire a management company who has contacted me in a threatening manner telling me that they have set up new rules for rental properties and that because "I have a rental property", I have to pay them fees and have a lease and so on. I live with family, but they claim the board wants proof. However, they keep changing what they want. They would say one thing over the phone and then write something different on their letters. They first said submit any proof. Then they said they wanted something else. They change what they want as they go along. I feel they are harassing me. I feel they are discriminating against me for some reason. The maintenance money that I am paying is being wasted to harass and threaten me. What are my rights in defending myself and suing the management company/ HOA?

I don't know why you'd sue them.

Have you ever actually provided any of the proof they asked for? If so, advise them, tell them you satisfied their request, and if they want something further to state what provision of the HOA bylaws authorizes their request.
