I received a summons on 9/30 that was stamped as filed 7/24/08 and states that I owe fee's in excess of $6,000 for a property that was forclosed on and I haven't lived in since Jan of 07. The summons was in joint names with my ex husband and was very confusing. There is no explination of the fees except that they are from the date the summons was recorded and upto 4 years prior. The summons says that it must be served within 60 days (which it wasn't) and it wasn't given to me it was left with my boyfriend who didn't have to sign anything. This is the first information I've been sent about any debt to the association from that community. When I left the bank took ownership of the property so I should not have been responsible for any other association fees right? I no longer have contact with my ex how do I reply to such a thing? I have 30 days to file a reply and can't afford a lawyer.

It is a summons for a Case Management Hearning. The summons is from the Rhonda Association which is the homeowners association for the area that I and my ex owned in before the forclosure. the only thing listed as for what the summons is for is that it's breach of obligation and comments fee's due to the association.
The property to my knowledge was auctioned off in june of 2007 so at the least I shouldn't be liable after that timeframe and it should be split liability between myself and my ex correct?
