Summons response

I recently received a summons which had no date of service. It was given to my wife while I was out of town. Further, there is no Case No. nor judge named. It looks like a lawyer is just trying to get info without filing the case. Do I need to respond? Thanks.

Call the small claims court clerk in your city or town and see if there is anything filed against you. Then, proceed as necessary.
