Hello everyone, how do you like this message? Any advices or suggestions?
"Hello, my name is Narcis-Lucian Olaru and I was your patient in December last year. I chose your hospital after long research on the internet and based on the reviews. Unfortunately, it turned to be disappointing.
I talked to Mrs. X and then I was scheduled to a videocall with Dr. Y. I explained to him my problem, that around 2002, when I was 7 years old, I had an accident and broke my arm at the elbow. I grew up with extension deficiency and at this age, 29 years old, having deficiency of about 90 degrees. The doctor said that if the surgery was successful, I could straighten for sure, my arm with deficiency of only 10-15 degrees, or even straighten it completely up to 180 degrees. After the surgery he said that everything went perfectly, everything was successful and the next step would be recovery. From the first days after the surgery, I started electrotherapy and physical therapy at the hospital. Since returning to my country, I have been doing medical recovery every day, both in a private clinic (I provide evidences) and at home. Even though I was in excruciating pain, I continued physiotherapy, kinesiotherapy and other procedures every day. My desire for results was stronger than anything else. Even 4 months after the surgery, the condition of my arm was the same, maybe even worse, because of weekly pain.
On 15th of April, I talked to Dr. Y on the phone about the lack of any positive results. Contrary to what he said before the surgery, he now said that I could get 10-15 more degrees in the first 6 months after the surgery. If he had said this in the beginning, I wouldn't have had the surgery anymore. No one would take this risk and pay that money for such a small change. Secondly, even after the surgery, I could not gain even at least 5 degrees. Thirdly, I did not achieve anything, I even got worse during these 4 and a half months. Even though I continue to recovery, I don't believe the next month will bring any changes.
Therefore, my money was taken, I went through a lot of pain in the process of recovery, and my hopes that my arm will be eventually fine were destroyed.
Since my job didn't allow us to be absent, I had to choose between having surgery and keeping my job. Considering I waited 20 years for the opportunity to have the surgery and lead a normal life, I chose the surgery. Currently, I am in a worse condition than before the surgery, regarding the health of my arm, and at the same time, I am looking for a job. Because my family couldn't afford to help me come to Istanbul, I had to borrow money from friends and relatives.
For the things mentioned above, my request is for a full refund of the amounts paid to the hospital, transportation expenses to Istanbul, amounts paid to the recovery clinic in my country, and compensation for the pain endured during all the futile therapy sessions.
Considering that all the staff at the hospital treated me very kindly (as I mentioned in the video recorded immediately after the surgery, which is also available on the hospital's Instagram page), and I do not wish to tarnish your hospital's image, I sincerely ask you not to push me, by the decision you make, to expose my story through all existing media channels.
Please consider that I will allocate all the necessary time to address the Ministry of Health of Turkey, if this complaint is not resolved. Additionally, I will not hesitate to make my case public through every social media platform, vloggers, the press, and other means of communication.
I wish you all the best and I frankly hope you understand the magnitude of the situation.
Sincerely,
Narcis-Lucian Olaru"
