Hello,
I am in an odd situation regarding my license being suspended in NYC. I was driving with a DJ license (17, passed road test, no previous stops) and I was stopped for having illegal window tinting. I was given a ticket and decided to try and contest it because the tint shop told me that the tint was not dark and I'd be fine. During the hearing, the judge immediately said guilty and asked me why I was driving. I said "I passed my road test" and to that he told me my license was suspended. When I got stopped, I did not get a ticket for driving out of class (DJ ticket). I looked up NY law and there was nothing there that says a suspension is the punishment for this. Can the judge just suspend me like that legally?
