Hi,
Im looking to start an online tab archive (http://www.soundtab.com/) and wanted to know what you thought about the legality of this type of site. So far, I have only uploaded a pre-release that explains our goals. However, I am concerend that this type of site will have a lot of legal issues brought on by the music industry.
From my research I have found out that a photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." (http://www.copyright.gov/circs/circ21.pdf) So basicly the only way I could justify the legality of the tabs is by stating that users could only use the archive for private study, scholarship, or research. Do you think this is a legitimate claim?
Thanks!
