Please I beg anyone who can help me with this issue to follow up to my question. I was harassed in a local Starbucks store by one of their district managers. This is a store that I frequented for about 5 or 6 months sometimes 2 x a day. I have not had any problems with this store before. The store was closing and on their last day I was there 30 minutes before the doors were about to close forever at that location. Here is what happened and this is the truth , I would not be pursuing this issue further if I know I was in the wrong .. I was not irate, I was not swearing or being loud or being violent.

Here is what happened.

I went into the store and there were 3 or 4 people working behind the counter and there were 4 ladies in line ahead of me. On the counter was about 10 packs of 2 count short bread cookies. The district manager offered the ladies the cookies and three of them said no thank you and the fourth said sure well the district manager packed all 10 packs of cookies in a brown bag and gave them all to that one customer. When I got up to the counter I placed my order and as the district manager was writing my order on the cup I said " No that's ok I didn't want any cookies anyways " She smiled and nodded and then I said " Actually I did want a cookie and if your going to offer them to some customers in line you need to offer them to the whole store" She shook her head and said don't I'll ask you to leave and it was left at that ... another employee proceeded to pump the hazelnut into the cup and as she was doing so I said " You know what I will leave " and I walked out of the store. Five minutes later I came back because to find out if the lady was the district manager and to get her name so I could call Starbucks about the way she treated me. The other worker at the counter said that she was the district manager after asking her about the lady I talked to earlier and that is when I asked for the barista to write down her name ( her managers name ) for me and the District manager came over to me and said to me and I would like your name and number also. I said no I'm not giving it to you because your probably going to blow the whole issue out of proportion ( I realize maybe that wasn't the smartest thing for me to say but I was really worried that I would be retaliated against and lied about my contact after all the whole time I did not get rude nor raise my voice nor act indecently ) When I said this to the District manager right in front of the other employees " Get out or I'm calling the cops ! "

I immediately when I got home called Starbucks gave them my story and the lady I talked to for about 30 minutes was real nice , she sent me 2 free drink coupons in the mail and said she will file a report. I told her I would like someone to call me back regarding this issue. A week later no one called me I called back and the person I spoke to told me they would make another note that I would like a follow up. Two weeks later I call again and basically I was told by Starbucks that no follow up is necessary. This company acted like I was in the wrong and they do not care that their district manager harassed me. I want to take Starbucks to court mostly for an apology and acknowledgment that they did me wrong ( and court fees of course ) I am not out to make tons of money , I don't care about the money I am just angry they " blew me off"

How do I take them to court ?
Can I represent myself?
Do I even have a strong enough case to win?

Please help !

This all happened in Winter Park FL which is by Orlando

Do I even have a strong enough case to win?
No. Starbucks has already addressed the issue with you by listening to your complaint and sending you the free drinks. Good luck to you!

So that's it ? Their district managers can do whatever they please to people and two free drink coupons will always make it all better? I was a good customer and did not deserve the treatment I got that day.

Being mouthy does not entitle you to a free pass and to having the red carpet rolled out to you by everyone who you think are doing whatever they please. It is obvious to me that you are not being completely forthcoming on your posting, so you got what you deserved. You have no case!

I can't believe people always assuming that the consumer is the one at fault, I was not mouthy with her I had every right to bring up the point that she needs to offer the entire Starbucks some free cookies and not just a few of the customers in line. And when she says she wants my information I have every right not to give it to her. I don't care what you people say I'm still going to pursue this further.

As long as I'm calm , don't swear , don't shout and talk in a normal tone I have every right to approach her any way I feel about her giving some customers free product. If I want to say it in a " no that's ok I didn't want any " and then a couple seconds later " Yes I really did want one and if you offer some of the people in line free cookies you need to offer the whole store " I have every right to say this what she does not have a right to do is tell me she's going to call the cops on me. I WAS NOT hostile nor yelling nor swearing it was my god given right as a patron to that establishment for months to say something to her about this and that is what I did.

Pick a store you frequent all the time , bring and issue up to the management that you did not like and I'm sure each and every one of you have done this on more then one occasion and then imagine that manager telling you to get out or she/he is calling the cops. You would be fuming mad too ! So before you look at the faults in others eyes look at your own and picture yourself in my shoes. I am a faithful consumer at Starbucks did I really deserve this treatment?

First, they did not have to offer the cookies to the whole store. They could offert the cookies to whomever they pleased.

As for her being rude when you came back, that has been addressed by the company. Even if you have $10,000 to piss away, what will you sue them for? On what grounds will you take them to court?

You can NOT just go to court seeking an apology. Being treated rudely is not a tort, and no court is likely to be willing to waste their time arguing with corporate attorneys as to whether you need to receive an apology or not.

You are free to pester the Corp. representatives at Starbucks all you want, but this is not going to see the inside of a courtroom.

In the end, there are plenty of other coffee shops that you can probably patronize. Vote your dissatisfaction with your wallet, and take you money to another store be it a chain or private, local business. Since your local Starbucks apparently closed, anyway, why not?
