My jurisdiction is: NH

If you have been in a relationship with a person for four years and then that person all of a sudden tells you to leave them alone. You have no idea why they just say leave them alone. Then you see them in a public parking lot - is it illegal to go over to them and try to talk to them and ask them what is wrong and how can you help that person?

By itself, this action is probably not unlawful. However, if the person can articulate some form of stalking behavior or unlawful harassment (however it is defined in your state), then you could be in trouble.

My recommendation: Stay away. Failure to stay away could result in law enforcement contact or a restraining order.
