A friend of mine has a pregnant 16-year-old daughter. The daughter's 18 year old boyfriend's Mother wrote a note to the school saying she had a Drs. appointment, when she did not. (This is not the first time they contributed to her delinquency) The school released her from school on Thursday to these individuals without the Mother's knowledge. These individuals then took the girl to Maryland (where it is legal w/o parental consent as long as your pregnant) to get Married. The Mother would not give her daughter consent to marry here. The boyfriend and his Mothers reasoning in doing this is to be able to move the girl out of state with them. IS there anything this young girl's mother can do to hold these adults responsible? Can the Marriage be annulled?

Exactly! Thanks for the response. I found today some Pa. criminal statues surrounding "Interference w/ custody", as well as "Contributing to the delinquency of a minor", as well as grounds for annulment for "marriage under duress." I passed these statutes along to the Mother . The police will know better at any criminal charges that should or could be pressed. I'm pretty sure the Mother will, (if not already)consult with an attorney. This is a hard, saddening situation. I'll update as things progress.
