Failed to inform us that there is 7 registered sex offenders living here. Would of liked to have been told.being that we have 3 children. Can they get in trouble for not warning us?

Per my reference, motel owners do not have to say who is living in other rooms at the motel. It suggested if you are going to be living there for quite some time, you might want to check the sex offender registry to see if any sex offenders are living there permanently before moving in. (check if that is their permanent address)

It's your responsibility to determine who resides near you. The motel may not know that registered sex offenders reside in their rooms. The motel owes you no legal duty to disclose who's staying there.

You, however, do have a legal duty to watch, protect, and supervise your children. Now that you know what evil may be lurking on the grounds, keep your eyes on your children.

In fact, depending on state law the motel may be prohibited from violating the privacy of the others who are living/staying there.

Interestingly enough, many of the less expensive motels in my neck of the woods are the ONLY place where registered sex offenders can find a place to reside since they cannot reside near schools, playgrounds, parks, etc. and many landlords will not rent to them.

Agree, it has been reported that scores of sex offenders are living in hotels & motels - generally the "cheaper" ones. If you do a check for sex offenders, you need to type in the address of the hotel/motel. Most use that as their permanent address since that is where they are living. It is not illegal for sex offenders to stay in hotels/motels as long as they're located outside the areas prohibited for sex offenders.
