My jurisdiction is: Texas
I lease a home to a couple with a teenage son. The homeowner two lots down has been harassing the son and the family wants to not renew the lease. The harassment has consisted of noise complaints involving the teenage son and a male friend in the front lawn and use of the "n" word to the teenage son. The father tried to talk to the neighbor and was threatened physically. This is not the only African American family on the street; however, the others are homeowners. What recourse do I have to prevent this harassment? There have not been any complaints from other neighbors or the homeowners association and this particular neighbor has been arrested several times for domestic abuse. The tenant family has agreed to go to a month to month agreement until January to see if the situation improves. What recourse do I have if I lose this tenant because of an obnoxious neighbor?
