I have lived in my apartmentfor 6 months. About 2 months ago I got a kitten, after carefully reviewing my lease, which stated NOTHING about pets at all. About 2 weeks ago my landlord followed me out of the building telling me that I need to get rid of the kitten immediatey and that I am not following any of her rules. I called her the next night to discuss the issue and she told me it was the realtors fault the lease said nothing about pets and I have to get rid of the kitten. Am I required to do so even if it's not stated in the lease that I'm not allowed to have pets?

There is nothing that says you "can" have the kitten either. So your whole defense just went out the window. What you should have done was ask first. However thats over now. You have several choices

. Get rid of kitten
. Ask Landlord if you can pay a "pet" deposit
. Move

Adding to the previous posting - addend the lease, allowing you to keep your pet by paying not only a pet deposit, but also, a monthly pet fee.
