I received a letter from my employer that the IRS had placed a levy on my wages. The next week I was terminated for not following company procedures. Filed for unemployment was denied for misconduct. Also received a letter from employer that I was to honor my non compete contract (no to work for 24 months for any compettion) and will have to pay back expenses incurred for my training...over a thousand dollars (paid for with government grants)..contract stated if I voluntary terminated or prevoc termination. What options do I have.....I've been working in this trade for 20years and have only worked for this employer less than 2 years was fully trained and certified prior to employment and had my own business in the same field. Any help thanks..

I'm not sure what you're asking, please post a question.

The non-compete might be too broad.

Say you are a machinist.

You aren't barred for two years from practicing your trade, even at a competitor's business.

You just can't share your former employer's trade secrets!

Otherwise, you wouldn't be allowed to make a living.

If you think the termination was a direct result of the receipt of the levy, talk to an attorney. You may have a case for wrongful termination.
