Hi,

I need some advices, I am coming from France so I don't really know the law her ein USA and more precisly in California.

In October, I have signed a lease for a period of 1 year. The thing is that due to the economic crisis, my company is going to fire me, so I will not have enough money to pay the Lease every month (Furthermore my company was paying me 1000$ of my lease because of my expatriation).

I want to know if I can treminate my lease before the one year period? Will I get back my caution?

I have maybe find a new job in San Diego, I am actually in Los Angeles so I will need to leave my actual appartment for a new one... If I can terminate my lease what is the notice period?

Yhank you in advance for your help.

Unfortunately, because you signed a lease, you are financially and legally responsible for the rent payments until the lease ends. However, check over the details of the lease; in some cases a tenant can "break" a lease with a financial penalty (typically a month or two of rent and the loss of their security deposit). This penalty gives the landlord time to find new tenants without loss of rent revenue and the cost of having to sue you for owed rent.

Another option is to look into the possibility of subletting your apartment; finding someone to take over the lease.
