My jurisdiction is: virginia
I'm a 19 year old college student maintaining a 3.9 gpa and a clean record. Recently i was at a party with a few friends and was the dd for the night. I drink rarely on occasion but that night a few friends pressured me to have a few beers to relax. After three or four beers I cut myself off for the night and waited over three hours before getting behind the wheel. On the way home i got pulled for speeding (70 in a 60) and when the officer asked if i had anything to drink i told him i had a few beers hours ago but i haven't drank since. He asked me to do the sobriety test and i passed. Then he told me to blow into the breathalyzer and i blew a .06. He then wrote me for speeding and underage possession. What steps should i take leading to this court case? And will the fact that i am maintaining a good gpa and have two steady jobs effect the outcome of the case? Should i get a lawyer? And i am i screwed either way?
