The mother of my son gave custody to another woman

The mother of my son(we were never married)gave another woman I barely know temporary custody of my son.He lives with my mother and his grandfather.This other woman says that we cannot contact his teachers about his homework or his doctor about medical issues.His grandmother has always taken care of these things He is now 8 years old.All of this was done without any of our knowledge.I took a state ordered paternity test after he was born and it says with 99.98% I am the father.What can I do?

Mom has over stepped her bounds.

Mom has acted adverse to your parental interests.

You should ask a court to intervene and reverse mom's poor choice.


I won't bother explaining the legal reasoning behind my

Speak with a couple of attorneys and select one to represent you.

It'll take a court action to address and correct what mom has done.

It sounds like you do not have a custody/visitation order? You need one.

This third party that currently has your son has less control over these matters than you do. You are on the right track- you need to assert your parental rights. You will do this through the court, not by arguing with the mom.
