my mother and i have never got along and when my father died, i and my family were shunned at the funeral. my mother had 3 boys from a previous marriage, then when her and my father married they had a girl, my sister. so my mother had her boys and girl. then i came along , i assume i was not planned, because of the way my mother abused me growing up. i am my fathers only son, although he adopted my stepbrothers and always treated us as equal and fairly i am curious to know if wills are a matter of public record? how do i obtain a copy of a will? if it has not been filed in court is it legal? if it was not filed in court do i have the right to see the will, believing i may have been included? not actually knowing if it was filed, which county it would have been filed in, how do i go about obtaining this information?

Yes, if they are filed at the courthouse. I would assume the county in which your father lived. Go down to the court house and request a copy. If it was not filed I do not know if legal or not but it would have to go through the probate process. Check probate laws for your state.
