Hello
My question pertains to the hiring practices of company's i.e. trucking company's useing the length of time a person has been unemployed as a meens to disqualify someone from employment.
Situation:
Since Dec 2008 I have been unemployed couldn't get back into a driving job do to at the time haveing 4 tickets on my record and the job avaliblity as we know in most states last year was let's say lacking. anyway just recently 2 of my tickets came off my record (3yr rule) so I started looking for another truck driving job. and so far out of the 5 I have applied to and got responses from. they all say do to my lack of current employmnet i.e. my lack of employment for the last 16mo is a primary reason for not being hireable.
So my question is. Is this practice legal. useing someone's length of unemployment as a meen's to disqualify for employment
Thank you
