My old job called me 3 days after termination and said that they were missing 3 destroyed aluminum rims for tractor trailers and I admitted to taking only one and now they are saying that I need to pay for all 3 new rims at the amount of $1,500 or they are going to call the police and swear out a warrant for felonious theft. What can I do?
It may not help you in your current circumstances, but I'll say it anyway.
Never ever admit to doing anything.
Watch any documentary crime show (The First 48 is a good example), and you'll see why admitting to ANYTHING is not a good way to remain a FREE person.
An even better thing to stay a FREE PERSON is never, ever break any laws.
If anyone asks you anything, simply say, I'm sorry, but I have nothing to say.
If the police do come a calling, when they ask, simply say I'd like to speak to an attorney.
Then, no matter what happens, say nothing except name, address, date of birth, and keep asking for a lawyer.
You'll never talk yourself out of jail, only into jail.
