My husband went to have his drivers license renewed & got arrested for theft by check. The charges were for 2 checks. 1 was for $25 & the other was for $510. They both dated back to 3/2008. We moved from the address that was listed on the checks & never were notified of the charges. When he was arrested I immediately paid the checks & the charges, & paid to get him out on bail. Now he has 2 court dates for hearings concerning these charges & we want to know what we might expect.

We have never been to court & we have no idea what to expect to happen. What can come of this & what do we need to do to prepare? Is there a chance that he can go to jail/be put on probabtion/is there more charges that we will have to pay? etc....

Your explanation that it was an oversight due to your move seems believeable.

You paid the checks, plus associated fees, I presume.

Bring the checks and receipts to court.

You'll most likely have some court costs, after you've paid them, this whole thing will end.
