I dated a drug addict for a year and a half. (He was in jail for seven of those months.)
I'm a single parent on disability, yet he had no problem taking my money, eating my food, and using resources.
When he couldn't get money from me, his mom would send money using Western Union.
The tab came to just under $1,000. He verbally agreed to pay back half of what he felt he owed: $200,
It's been a year.
Should I sue him? Can I win?
Should I sue his mom? Would I win?
If I didn't have a son, I'd chalk it up to a big mistake.. But I need that money!
What do I do?

Never believe anything drug addicts promise.

Never give anyone money but your child.

By all means, don't loan money to anyone, unless you don't need it.

Those that borrow, soon FORGET to repay.

You more or less gave him the money as a "gift." Even if you sued & won, there probably would be a problem in collecting the money. You might just want to let it go & take it as a lesson learned re giving money to people.
