I have an arraignment next week on this charge. I have gotten youthful offender status and my dad pressed the charges and has been trying to get them dropped, and the judge knows the charges want to be dropped but the paper work didn't get done in time so i still have to face the charge. What is the most likely punishment for this charge?? What exactly is an arraignment??

We don't know the state nor the exact offense so we can't say what the punishment is although I'm not sure why this would be a concern if the delay in the case all came down to paperwork.

An arraignment is the first step in criminal proceedings. The defendant must appear in court and is advised of the charges and required to enter a plea of either (a) guilty or (b) not guilty. Further court dates are also set and the hearing offers a defendant the opportunity to ask for court-appointed counsel if the defendant has not or cannot secure an attorney. Bail issues are also frequently resolved at the arraignment hearing.

Good luck to you.
