i was a manager of a fast food restaurant and i took 2700 dollars. i have never been in trouble before. im a single mom of 4 and i was told by the arresting officer that i would be put on diversion. i know this is probation. but i just want to know if im going to serve jail time.

First of all, stop cutting your own throat.

The persecutor will own that task.

You are innocent until proven guilty.

Do not admit to doing anything.

If you've confessed, don't do it again.

Wad not guilty and ask the court to appoint a defense counsel to represent you.

Then, stop talking and wait.

Time, silence, and your lawyer are your allies.

You haven't been convicted.

If you shut up, you might not get convicted.

If convicted, you could get probation, suspended sentence, jail, or prison.

But, the fat man isn't singing, yet!!!

$2700! This is felony theft and diversion is not likely at all! You need to calm up and talk to someone who is on your side which is not Police. Start calling lawyers your going to need one.

Perhaps it varies with states right now, but jails are holding fewer and fewer non-violent offenders, even for felonies.
If this is a first offense it may very well be a case for diversion.
