A few months ago I was pulled over for speeding on a motorcycle. I was given a $250 ticket for 20 over on an empty road in the back country. Long story short, I hired a lawyer and they appeared in court for me. Some time afterwards I got a letter from my lawyer stating that they had agreed to plea my ticket down to a seatbelt infraction. That is fine, except it is impossible to get a seatbelt infraction while driving a motorcycle, for the obvious reasons.
I did not attend the court appearance so could not mention anything regarding the odd arrangement, but the lawyers letter stated that it was already agreed, so I payed the seatbelt infraction.
I am happy I didn't get the original speeding ticket dont get me wrong, but it just seems otherworldly that I had to pay a seatbelt ticket while on a motorcycle. Is that how it works? Can they plea you down to anything even if it doesn't make any sense whatsoever? Perhaps the prosecutor\judge attempt at humor? I am just curious, as it is too late to do anything about it now I suppose.
Thanks for your time,
Rick
