Greetings all.. thank you in advance for assistance on this matter.

The alleged offense:
Driving my friend's car (he had a suspended license; long story), I was greeted by 2 flashing red street lights and a cop car stopped on the opposing intersection. Came to a stop... looked at the cop...wondered in that situation if i was being baited and should let him go before proceeding.. or just go. I just went. Pulled over.. blah blah.. blocked by another cop on one way. just unnecessary but whatever.

Cited/ticketed for "Failure to Observe Signal" 39:4-81 which is $85 and 2 points if I read correctly.

On the phone/website I am told the offense is
"Failure To Have Inspection" 39:8-1 for $130
the intersection is one street incorrect as well.

Driving my friend to work 4 days later, I was pulled over again. This time the cop said his camera caught the license plate for suspended registration. I told him I was pulled over before and was not ticketed for that. He said the officer should have. As I was only 3 blocks from home, he said just to keep the car off the road until it was sorted.

Do I go to court and fight what I was ticketed for or am i fighting something completely different? This is my first ticket and will be my first court appearance. Obviously, I am not sure how to attack this.

I apologize for the length of the post. I tried to be as thorough as possible
without being convoluted. perhaps i failed. :D

Look up the code that is actually on your citation. If it is in fact regarding an inspection, and if you can prove that you were in compliance with the inspection requirement, then go to court and show proof.... your ticket should be dismissed.

The website is wrong. You should contact the court and see if you can get the correct information regarding the fine.

It sounds like the citation was issued for an incomplete (rolling) stop. The best way out of this is traffic school.
