I purchased a timeshare 5 years ago from a woman who inherited it from her deceased brother. The title was never deeded over to me and still remains in the deceased brothers name. Since I purchased the timeshare the maintanince fees have almost doubled. I was told by someone that because the deed was never recorded in my name that I can just walk away and not pay any future maintenance fees without credit risk. Any advice is appreciated

Well, this would become a battle about who owns the timeshare - with the twist being that neither of you WANTS to get stuck with it.

One one hand, the deed is not in your name.

On the other, presumably the woman who inherited it has a signed agreement for sale showing you as the purchaser. I don't know what the rules are in your jurisdiction, but maybe she could take that to the land titles office or whatever comparable entity you have and get that registered.

If you do get stuck with it, there are ways of getting rid of timeshares. You might be able to quitclaim or deed it back to the developer, or donate it to charity.
