Hello,

I would appreciate some help with my situation. I was in Rockland County, NY this weekend and was pulled over by a local police officer ie not a State Trooper. Apparently, I was travelling 10 miles over the posted speed limit and I cut off a truck to take my exit. When I was pulled over, the officer also read my tints using his equipment and it read "28" for the front windows and "27" for the back windows. He told me he was giving me a break by not giving me a speeding ticket, but instead gave me two tickets for the tints. One for the front and one for back windows.

In any case, the vehicle is not mine and I told him this and he advised me to have them removed within 24 hours in order to have the tickets dismissed. Since the car is not mine and I cannot force someone to remove the tints, what legal defense do I have? Disclosure: I do have 8 points on my license for speeding.

Thanks for your help!
