So when my grandmother died, I was 11. in her will she left X amount of money for each grandchild. since I was too young to receive the money, I assume it went to her daughter(being my mother). I'm now over 18, so how do I receive that money, is my mom required by law to give it to me if she still has it or what?

thanks.

More than likely its being held in a trust.

You need to know what the will said and how it was probated.

You might start with your mom or older relatives.

Are there other grandkids similarly situated?

Why don't you band together and seek the answer.

if my mom has the money is there anything that can be done?

Maybe, maybe not.

You need to know for sure what the will said.

Maybe you didn't receive any money?

Maybe you can't get the money until you're 25?

I have two grandchildren that are the recipients of their father's will,

He left them a rathger large sum of money in a trust fund.

They can't get the money until they turn 25 years old.

They know all there is to know about the trust fund.

They were given copies of their father's will.

As I said, you have some research that needs to be done.

Start with your mother or go to the courthouse and get a copy of your father's probated will.

Your mother must have one that she can give you.

Ask another sibling if you can see a copy of the will.

Without doing YOUR research, you'll never get correct answers.

If your grandmother didn't say that you personally got the money when you became of age, then what was yours as an 11 year old was your mom's as your Mother. Before you get too hot and bothered about your Mother spending "your" money, you need to remember that your Mom spent a whole lot of "her" money to get you to the point of demanding "your" money now as an adult. Unless your Grandma left the money in trust you have no claim against your Mother.
