traffic ticket

I recieved a traffic ticket in NC and the town I have to go to court in only has a DA to deal with (this is a traffic court), my ticket was for 16 miles over and I have not received a ticket in over 4 years... so my question is if I request to have the speed reduced to 9 miles over, ask for a prayer for judgement and do not get either am I able to ask for a continuance at that time so I can obtain a lawyer or do I have to take what the DA gives me?

Usually you can go in and talk to the DA before your court date and get it settled. Call the court and get his hours. Ask for the nine over first and save the PFJ. Otherwise, hire a local attorney.
