Transferring title of property left to me

I was left property in my grandmothers will. I was trying to find out how do I claim that property and have the title transferred to my name. The will has not been probated with the court. Is it necessary for me to have the title put in my name. I have lived in the house off and on during my grandmothers life and have resided there since she past. Does anyone have any information on the process I need to take?

Can I just have my mom do a quit claim deed and transfer the property to me?

Only if the property is titled in your Mom's name.
