Hello, I am a female from GA. I hope I am posting this in the correct forum. In Feb of this year I began relations with a guy I met through friends. We were out one night and apparently he used a credit card which had been reported stolen. A month later he robbed me at gunpoint, which I reported and filed charges against him. After this incident occured warrants for fradulent use of a financial institution card were issued for us both because we were associated together by witnesses where the card was used. Now we are being tried together for said charge. He is a already a two-time felon and I didn't know anything about any credit card nor did I ever use one. ----- Prior to this incident in late Oct. 2011, I went to work with a girlfriend of mine who had a business cleaning up foreclosed and abandoned homes as well as vacated rental properties. I worked with her for two months until one day without warning she just disappeared. During that time one of my duties was to schedule wrecker services to come and remove old junk cars. I received work orders daily with tasks she wanted done. One particular work order was to call and meet a wrecker service to pick-up two old junk cars from what appeared to be an abandoned home. She told me she had spoken to the homeowner and they were in agreement to the tasks on my work order. So I proceeded with the job as instructed. Now when I was arrested for the warrant that was issued for the credit card charge, I was questioned about two cars being stolen, but at the time I didn't realize that the detectives were referring to the two cars previously mentioned so I told them I didn't know anything about it. Soon after this I was bailed out of jail and another within two days another warrant was issued for theft by taking for the theft of those two cars. Subsequently, I found out that a warrant was also issued for the girl I was working for and that she was arrested, but was released and has not been charged. To date I have been to Court for calendar call for the first case (credit card) and my PD made a motion to combine the two cases into one.------- My questions are these: 1) Is it normal practice or beneficial to me to combine the two cases? 2) How can I be tried as co-defendant with a person I have filed armed robbery charges against? 3) If I have copies of the work orders I was given and I was just doing what I was instructed by my employer, then how can I be charged and not the person I was working for? ------- I am unemployed, penniless, and as of a few days ago homeless. I can't afford an attorney, I am scared, and I am only guilty of being naieve and gullible, and a poor judge of character. Any answers or advice about my situation would be much appreciated and I do thank you for your time and assistance.

In both cases I would request a public defender. Based on the robbery charge, you might get one charge dropped if you testify. Can you substantiate you were acting on your employers orders and prove employment regarding the car issue?

The questions you pose would be best addressed by your attorney.
We don't know enough, and you'd be smart not to tell more, about your case.
I can tell you this, with decades of criminal law practice under my belt, you made a big mistake by speaking to the police.
I can see, without you saying more, why the police are going after you.
The best thing to do, and it's never to late, is to shut up.
