Hi,
I was driving on the freeway going the speed limit until I reached someone going 60 in the fast lane. There was no one in front of him and he wouldn't move over. I went around him and the CHP pulled me over. I was in the fast lane when he put his lights on me and I pulled over to the left side of the road instead of the right because it was a divided highway I thought it was safe.
He wrote me for 21703 VC-following too closely and 21806(a)(1)-fail to yield right. I was about 30ft. behind the car and on the ticket he didn't write my distance or the speed I was driving. Also, for the failure to yeild, the code he wrote down does not match up to the description. The code he wrote was failure to yield to an emergency vehicle. Should I fight this or pay the fine?
Thanks,
Brittany

I pulled over to the left side of the road instead of the right because it was a divided highway I thought it was safe.

This is a absolute no-no and almost guaranteed to earn you a ticket where you may have just gotten a warning. It is never safe to stop in the median.

In about two weeks you will receive your courtesy notice which will list the violations and the fines. It would pay you to fight since you have a good chance of one of them being dismissed and taking traffic school on the other. Two tickets on your record is a guaranteed hit on your auto insurance.
