Hi, I was charged with Underage Drinking and Resisting Arrest in the state of Pennsylvania. This is my first misdemeanor offense, and from what I have heard, it is possible to take a program that will get this offense dropped from my permenant record. This program is called ARD (I don't know what the initials mean) and it is basically one year of disciplinary probation.

My question to you is this: Do I need a lawyer in order to get this class? Is there any chance that I will be denied the option to take this class if I don't get a lawyer?

Basically, I DO NOT want this on my permenant record, but as a college student I would have to take out a loan in order to get a lawyer and I am wondering if it is really worth it? My father has already contacted a lawyer who seemed very knowledgeable and has even dealt several times with the officer that arrested me. But I am wondering if I can plead guilty get the class without the help of a lawyer.

It might be denied if they follow through on the resisting charge.

It's best to consult an attorney.
