I was working as a licensed esthetician at a spa for about 4 and a half months. I was just called and told that they have to let me go for nothing personal or against me, it just "wasn't working out with what they were trying to do". I am curious, aren't I legally obligated to atleast 2 weeks notice in advance so I can be looking for another job? I am a young single mother and its right before the holidays! They just called and told me not even to come in and that they will mail my check to me. I also believe that my release from this job was unjustified. Please send me some advice on whats legal and whats not. Thank you!

No sadly you are not. Unless you rin Montana your in an "at will" state. This means either you ro your employer can terminate employment at anytime with or withut cause. The only exceptions are if you are under a cba, employment contract or, the termination violates some law like discrimination
