i am currently undergoing an appeal with my previous employer and have been given a meeting to attend for the final decision and would like to know where i stand with unfair dismissal! as i had quite alot of time off due to health issues and when i returned to work i was not asked for a doctors note. i was then handed my notice and i am now appealing and provided them with a back-dated sick-note from my doctors. but i was still under my probationary period?

There is no legal concept of "unfair dismissal". The law does not care whether it was fair or unfair; only whether it was legal or illegal.

Based SOLELY on what you have posted here, you would not appear to have any legal recourse. Based on ONLY what you have posted, the termination would appear to be legal. The law does not say that you can have unlimited absences for illness or that your employer can't fire you if they didn't ask for a doctor's note. Unless FMLA applies (and FMLA does not apply unless you have worked for the employer for a minimum of 12 months, among other criteria) they are not obligated by law to provide you with any sick time at all.

If there are facts you have not posted that you believe would change this answer, please post them here.
