Hi all,

I've never been in trouble (and I'm a teacher) so I'm really concerned about my current situation.
The only reason I fell into this situation was that I was trying to scrap together a few bucks for the holidays.

About 5 days ago I was leaving the mall and this preppy kid asked if I'd be interested an iPhone. Obviously, my initial response was no but he kept going on.

For whatever reason, he was able to hook me and lower my shields.

Every red flag that could have gone up, this kid had an answer for.

Why are you selling this in the parking lot? He was just leaving the Apple store where they wouldn't give him a refund

Why are you selling it? He was a rich kid that just bought the new 5s

How do I know it isn't stolen? Here's the charger and manual

PLUS I know that the iOS 7 has the Find my iPhone app that cannot be turned off without the passcode and you cannot clear the phone without a passcode... but this phone had been cleared and was in perfect condition.

Another red flag would have been the price but this kid actually started WAY too high. For some reason, this really calmed my nerves.

The biggest thing was... I put my simcard in it and it worked fine.

Everything seemed legit to me

yada yada yada I talk the kid to $150 below what I know I could sell it for. Then I flip it online real quick and make a small profit.

Then a few hours ago, I get an email saying the person that bought it from me was told it was stolen and if I did not refund her the money, she would report me.
Obviously, I refunded her the money. Even if she is the one pulling a scam somehow... it just isn't worth the risk.

So I have 2 questions:
If she does not report me and sends the phone back to me, how should I go about getting it back to the owner? I don't want to walk into the police station and admit to unknowingly buying this if it will get me in trouble.

If she does report me, what would be my best course of action to keep myself from being arrested and having my career ruined?

Why on earth would you want the phone returned to you?

Don't answer, I already know.

You're going to get yourself in some serious trouble.

You don't sound like a first time rodeo rider.

Time to be smarter. and just stop.

In life there are no fast bucks to be made legitimately.

I want no part of this thing... I never said the buyer was sending it back. And I would never ask for it back.

I just know I gave them a refund and I'm sure they won't want anything to do with it anymore either.

I can assure you I have never got myself into any trouble like this.

Was I stupid? Absolutely.

That's why I'm looking for advice. In my opinion, it would be better for me to turn it in myself than for the person I sold it to to turn it and and claim that I knowingly sold them stolen property
