Unluckey day speeding/improper passing

So had a really bad day. I have NO points on my licence and havent been given a ticket in a long time. I am in sales and my job depends on me in the car all day. Need advice.

Is it leagle for the police to sit in a private property parking lot to set traps?
Can police review their dash cams from inside their car?
Do points carry over from NY to NJ.
I am going to court to fight the NJ tickets and NY since I am summoned to be in court.


I recieved 2 tickets by my local town Police.
Off a side st I was making a left onto the main st. One car had passed then the second let me out to make a left. As I made a left the lane then shifts into 2 where I stayed to the left Ln and the car in front of me went into the right Ln. Then the car in the right decided he wanted to be in the left and proceded to merge into my side door. To avoid getting hit I swerved over the double lines and sped up a little. It happened in front of the cops parked in a private lot. I was pulled over where the cop said to me you could nt wait your turn, NOTE: it was a total of 15 ft from turn to the light that was red. I asked if I can explain what happened he chuckeled and said sure go head. I explained I almost got hit by the other car. He came back with 2 tickets 1 for unlear licence plates, which the frame i have from the dealer covers a little bottom part of the Garden State. The 2nd ticket is for improper passing with the cop saying after reviewing his dash cam I passed the other car just to be ahead of him by 10ft.

Approx 2hrs later thinking to much of my 2 tickets earlier and trying to follow my GPS to an account. I stupidly wasnt paying attention and got pulled over speeding on a NY State highwy. The officer said he clocked being going 79 in a 50. I thought the highway I was on was at least 65 not saying I shouldnt of been driving the speed I was either way.

I would hire a local lawyer to represent you on the hometown tickets. You might get it dropped to just a covered plate. Hire a lawyer local to the court you received the speeding ticket in NY to see if they can get the charge reduced.

You might want to consider using a traffic law attorney. They can generally get you the best outcome possible.

Traffic school, if you can get it, will ALWAYS cleanse the stain of most citations.
Deferred adjudication (research it - if allowed) can work wonders!!!

Yes, and what you call a trap is probably not really an illegal speed trap.

That might vary with agency depending upon the installed equipment, but yes, the video often if not always can be reviewed in the vehicle.

Most likely yes, one state may report to the other.

You probably should have slowed down instead of crossing the double yellow. Was the other driver cited for making a lane change in the intersection?

Your options are to pay the fines, challenge the citations in court (probably not a good idea based on what you indicated here), or try to get traffic school. With a total of three citations in two states I'm not sure traffic school is an option.
