I was recently laid off from my job. My previous employer sent me an email message stating that he knew I had stolen money from him and has demanded $3000 by Saturday. He went on to say that if I didn't pay him by Saturday, that he would file charges against me. I have tried to contact him several times to find out what he is talking about, and he is never available. I have no idea what he is even talking about. Can he have me arrested for something that I have no idea about? What should I do?

He cannot file charges, all he can do is file a complaint. The D.A will review it and see if there is any evidence. Without any proof, he has a really tough case to prove.

For now just ignore him and look for another job. It is possible the police may ask you about it and all you can tell them is the truth, If you know nothing about it, then tell them.
