I was applying for the DoD SMART Scholarship and they required two copies of a SF-87, fingerprint cards. On March 12th, 2010 I went to my local UPS store to mail my copies of the SF-87 to the Scholarship office. I was given the wrong tracking number, so I went back on 4/2/2010 to see what was going on and they told me that they did not know where the package is. They told me that it was attempted to be delivered on March 15th, but it was a holiday so they would try to redeliver it the next day. The thing is that there is no report of the documents being delivered by UPS and they told me that they did not know where the package is. They told me that they would investigate the matter and call me within a week. If they can not find the package, is there anything I can do because the documents in the package has all of my identity on one paper? Everything from my fingerprints to my SSN, to my date of birth.

No, you have done all you can.
God and the potential thief only know where your documents are now.

You can have the credit bureaus put an alert on your social security number.
That way, you will be notified IF anyone does try to use your social security number for obtaining credit.
Contact each credit bureau, they will walk you through their alert protocol.

I'd resubmit the documents, you most likely won't be hearing about the ones you lost, anytime soon.

The next time use FedEx.
UPS has issues like yours all the time.

There's a good possibility that the package itself was never lost, and in fact did go to the right place. Remember, the tracking number they gave YOU was the problem. But if the address was correct on the package, then in all likelihood it made it's way right to who it was supposed to. You just couldn't track it. If there is anyway to contact the recipient and see if they received it, I would start with that.

Well when I went to the UPS store, they gave me the correct tracking number, I geuess something got mixed up when she printed the recipt. The status of the package is Exception. And the Exception is "THE BUSINESS WAS CLOSED TODAY. A DELIVERY ATTEMPT WILL BE MADE ON THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY / PACKAGE WILL BE DELIVERED NEXT BUSINESS DAY-NO SATURDAY GUARANTEE" Then afterwards, there is no second attempt of delivery recorded. When we asked the people on the phone, they told me that they could not locate the package. They told me it hasn't been delivered and could not tell me why it wasn't. I have tried to get a hold of the scholarship office but I still have not recieved an email back so now its just a waiting game.
