Please help!
I am in Indiana, we have a foster daughter that we decided to adopt 6 months ago....well things have changed, and we have changed our minds now, we do not want to adopt her. We have been told by the adoption attorney that works for the county that the adoption papers are all finalized, and the only thing left to do is go before the judge.... Since it has gone this far are we now commited? Or can we revoke the adoption and cancel it? PLEASE give a speedy answer. Thank you

There's nothing to revoke. As sad as it may seem, it isn't final until the fat judge gavels. You'll no doubt be questioned by the judge, just say you've changed your minds.

Thank you so much for the answer, I hope you are correct. So much has come to the surface since we decided to adopt....very serious things.
Thank you again...are you an attorney?

Yes, I am.

Think about obtaining a marriage license. But, at the last minute, one it both parties change their mind(s). Or, a criminal plea agreement. Criminal defendants change their minds and want a trial, while rejecting the plea. That is why is why the judge admonishes you in open court and on the record. As I said, it ain't over until the fat judge gavels!
