Using expired disability parking permit

Hello,

A friend of mine was discovered parking on a college campus with a disabled parking permit that belonged to one of his family members. She was given a $250 ticket, and the campus police are threatening prosecution as a 2nd degree misdemeanor. She has also been told to turn in the permit to the campus police.

Is this a good idea? Any advice would be appreciated!

Your friend may want to consult an attorney if she faces criminal charges. Whether she has to turn in her campus parking permit or not depends on factors we do not know, but chances are the campus reserves the right to revoke parking privileges. Your friend's family member may be a tad miffed.
