I was offered a job verbally and given a start date that I quit my job but before I start my new job the company told me that thay will not hire me. Do I have a case to ask for compensation about lost wages?

The verbal agreement was hiring me permanently with full benefits but instead offered me contractual job instead with no benefits.

The verbal agreement was being hired permanently with full benefits but instead offered me contractual work with no benefits meaning I will work with my computer at home and when finished will bring back to the company. I will lose a stable income & will have to buy my health insurance.

Why did they change their mind?

You havent answered this yet. Also was there a condition to your hiring? Was this an actual job offer or coud they say it was just a conversation of what "could" happen? Verbal agreements are hard to prove its your word against theirs.
