I entered a verbal contract with a party to buy an automobile. I was given the automobile but was told that because the party selling the vehicle was involved in a bankruptcy, I could not pay for the vehicle until the bankruptcy trustee was notified of the sale. I sent letters to this party with this regard.

Now, 9 months later, the party wants his vehicle back. I have made repairs and improvements on the automobile and had verbally purchased this automobile.

I want to take him to Small Claims Court over the automobile but am not sure what my standing is in the matter! HELP!

What does it say in the letter? On what basis is the trustee stating rights to your car? Did you get title to the car signed over? Is the car registered in your name?
