Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft WalMart

I set everyting in my arms down and walked out with the shopping bag full of stuff. The security officer stopped me called the police and took down my info. They said if i paid a civil amount of 200 dollars they would proceed and i wouldn't have to go to court. We paid 200 dollars and then I get a summons in the mail for a first degree misdemeanor with theft. ten items and the amount was 52 dollars... SERIOUSLY! this is one of my smaller amounts i have ever planned to spend at walmart, but i was not given the chance to tell them i seriously was not stealing. Im pregnant Im lucky to remember my middle name. Any way, the court date is set and I have no idea what to expect I live in Ohio and I kno the max fine is $1000 and jail 6 months, but i also have absolutely no record. I just dont know what to expect... help?

Its not about what to expect but what you can deal for. I suspect with a clean record you would be able to get Diversion or the like if available. Other than aquittal this is your best option. Start calling lawyers and set up consultations, many offer this free. Ask about Diversion and any options that might be open to you. Even if you do not hire one of these Lawyers and get Public defender you will have some knowledge of what you want when you talk to PD
