Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft What legal action should one take when dealing with a petty larceny ?

I'm a 19 year old college student who was caught shoplifting in a (dept. store) in Long Island. The items total came out to about $100 and the police were called. I have a court hearing next month and am not sure what to expect or what exactly to do. I don't have any prior offenses on my record .

You need a lawyer & talk only to your lawyer. If you can't afford one, ask the court if they will appoint one for you. Since this is your first offense, ask your lawyer about ACD or diversion as plea options. Your lawyer will help you.
