Who has legal claim over gifts between ex's?

Recently my boyfriend and i have broken up. During our relationship he decided to buy new updated versions of my stuff, most times without my permission. Going so far as to replace my washer and dryer and my tv. now, he wants the tv back, after getting rid of my tv. Is this considered a gift? We never lived together, he just stayed at my house, rent free, 5 out of 7 days per week.

If Well... if he stayed rent free and bought the appliances and replaced them, he's got a responsibility to put the old ones back! More important, these are "fixtures" which are more or less permanent and he'd have a hard time explaining that the improvements weren't intended to be there. I'd say you have the upper hand without knowing more.
