Security Deposit Will I get my security deposit back? If so...HOW?

Before we moved in, we went in to clean the unit as the landlord (who was living there previously) did not have the time to do so before we moved in. While cleaning the kitchen we found what appeared to be drugs in the kitchen. We called the police and made a report. The police called yesterday and confirmed that the bag was full of cocaine. We have demand our deposit back because we can not live there for the safety of our children but the landlord is avoiding us. Is there anything we can do to get the money back?

You can try sending a letter to the landlord asking for you money back & why (drugs/children) to have something in writing (date & sign it & keep a copy). If you still don't receive your money back, you can try a small claims court action.
