The patient went into the nursing home for foot rehabilitation after a minor surgery; expecting to recover in only a few weeks to a month. She explained to the doctor that she couldn't take certain medications due to her kidney disease; however, they went against her wishes and administered the substances anyways. The staff discredited her contraindications. After a few weeks with this care, she was sent to the emergency room and died the next day due to kidney failure. The staff's overall attitude and actions should be brought into question. During one visit, pictures were taken by the family due to concern with the current state of hygiene in the room and negligence of her exposed wound. The issue could have been avoided, if they had treated her wound after giving her a bath and not waited five hours. When the family addressed their concerns, the nurse was demeaning and defensive. This encounter was not the reason for her death, but just one of the experiences that raised alarm in accordance to her care at this facility. This facility was not chosen by the family but by the discharging doctor, post surgery.
