In memorium of my best friend, SGT Joe Jacobs, killed in Republic of Viet Nam. His tour began on this date, SEP 8, 1966. He died Feb 21, 1967.

Amen.

His mom and pop were tenured professors at Stanford.
They were also very wealthy.
I spent a three day weekend at their home.
They were most gracious, kind, and welcoming to me.
Joey could have received a direct commission to 2nd LT.

He apologetically told his mom and pop, he wanted to be an enlisted soldier.
He'd rather earn it, over just receiving it.
He became a journalist.
That was his major.

RIP Joey, perhaps we'll meet again, just remember the good, old days.
