Mental Health Thread #2 - Spring Forward

I agree, Betty! Almost all the pets I've ever had have just wandered into my life (homeless kittens that nobody else wanted, or our dog who was offered to us because the owner couldn't keep her and would've gone to the animal shelter if we hadn't taken her). The only one we actually went looking...

Mental Health Thread #2 - Spring Forward

It never ceases to amaze me how unconcerned some people seem to be about their pets. I mean, why bother to have pets if you don't care what happens to them?

I'm sure it was done intentionally....that sort of thing happens often enough in news headlines, I doubt that it's a coincidence! :)

I've been busy here also...my assistant is gone on vacation and I actually did the payroll myself for the first time in a couple of years. I was nervous about it at first, but I'd done payroll for so many years previously that I figured out if I just sort of let my brain go on auto-pilot, it...

I'd never heard of "thunder snow" until my sister who lives in Texas told me about it. We don't get thunderstorms very often so that's probably why we've never had it here (at least not during my lifetime, I think I'd remember it!). My sister also sent me a cool picture of a "snowbow"...we see...

Just doesn't seem right, does it?! March is such an "iffy" month for us weather-wise, you never know what you're going to end up with on any given day (and sometimes there will be a little bit of everything all in one day). We had pretty decent weather the whole month until spring...

Oh, yeah....I like the guy but he's one of those who thinks he can get by on being charming and talk his way out of things, which apparently works on many people (including the committee chairman) but I wasn't about to fall for it. I told him to pull up the e-mails and figure it out himself!

Mental Health Thread #2 - Spring Forward

That would be a useful one around here. A while back a guy who's on a committee with me calls and asks me the date and time for our upcoming meeting. I say, the chairman has been sending out e-mails with the date & time, copies of the agenda, and other information you'll need to know for the...

Just in case anyone missed this...

That's what I said (or some variation thereof...) How typical of the government, though, six pages of instructions for a 2-page form!

Oh, now, that's just salt in the wound! :p I think the most notable thing I did at 55 was getting my first (and so far only) tattoo. Oh, yeah, we adopted our dog that year also.

Please, don't rub it in for us poor souls who will probably be working until we're 85! :(

Mental Health Thread #2 - Spring Forward

Most of last week was beautiful and it felt like spring, with temps in the high 40's. The crocuses are blooming and other flowers are starting to peek out and I had such high hopes that we'd just smoothly transition right into spring. Today we woke up to snow on the ground and the forecast says...

The mention of Toyota reminded me about a text I sent my teenaged granddaughter in December. She had mentioned that she wanted a yo-yo for Christmas, but when I asked her about it in the text, my phone autocorrected "yo-yo" to "Toyota". Poor kid, for a fleeting moment there she had high hopes...

It is an absolutely gorgeous spring-like 45 degrees here. It is supposed to stay this way through Thursday, then go back to our normal rainy weather with possibly some snow showers mixed in. Of course it will probably not just rain but really pour, with howling winds...my husband leaves town for...

Yay, spring is definitely on the way! We had a very mild February and we already have crocuses blooming, and it's now daylight when I come to work in the morning and daylight when I get home in the evening most days! The longer days are the sign of spring I welcome most. I always feel much...

Yeah, I try to pay half of it on the 15th of the month and half at the end of the month, it makes it sting a little less! We seem to go through a lot of gas considering that my office is only about 5 minutes from home and my husband's work is only another five minutes from here, but my...

I got a kick out of reading how many of you do that "trick" to make it seem like you're not paying so much for gas! We have the opposite problem...my husband will fill the tank up at work and the office just adds it onto our running bill and then I have a heart attack when I go to pay the bill...

Right now it's $4.19 here (southeast Alaska) and that's down from a high of $4.25. My DH works for a fuel distributor and can get an employee discount when he fills up the car at work but even with the discount I think we still pay around $3.75.
